LISTEN · NOTICE · TRY AGAIN
What should you listen for?
Choose one thing to improve, then try again. These self-review questions paraphrase the official assessment dimensions.
| Dimension | Self-review question |
|---|---|
| Grammar and Vocabulary (Vantage) | Do grammar and word choices convey the intended meaning? |
| Grammatical Resource / Lexical Resource (Higher) | Check grammar control and vocabulary use separately. |
| Discourse Management | Can the listener follow relevant, connected ideas? |
| Pronunciation | Do sounds, stress and phrasing make the message understandable? |
| Interactive Communication | Do you respond to others and develop the discussion together? |
| Global Achievement | Consider communication across the whole speaking performance. |

The site does not convert recording length, connector counts or individual sentence patterns into BEC scores. Simple sentences, “important” and “I agree with you” can all be appropriate. Practice records, AI suggestions and self-review do not replace an official assessment.
Make one small change
- Listen to your take and identify one unclear point.
- Add a specific reason, clarify a reference or pause between ideas.
- Record again and compare that part.
